#FridayFlash - The Journal 1

I'm doing a little something for the next six weeks of #FlashFriday. Please bear with my experiment.

Journals as narrative are not uncommon. I normally don't like them, because they're not written like someone would write a journal. You don't tend to wander off in details. It's supposed to be about thoughts and reactions.

So I'm doing a journal series. This is supposed to follow the writer's descent through emotions, so I didn't just want to just write the words down here. So I busted out my Photoshop, and have written up pages of journal.

Yes, this is a version of my handwriting. Yes, the typos are on purpose.

  1. That was different, for #fridayflash and for you. Kudos on experimenting - I do wonder what your other installments will be. It all reads as a juvenile's rant on a page, but if it is actually recording a narrative then it gets abstract qualities.

  2. That certainly was quite different. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

  4. That's very true - I've certainly never written a journal in the style of a Victorian gent chronicling events for the sake of posterity. Dracula would read very differently if it was written as an ACTUAL set of diaries. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

  5. I commend you for experimenting.

    The actual words...
As I read this journal I felt myself tense up, and emotionally I reacted to the anger in the words.
Yes, it had that juvenile quality, but I feel this IS going somewhere. I'll be back to find out where.

Loved the doodling in the margins--adds more of a reality to it.
